March 5, 1942

Starting our 2nd year in the Army. Large Canadian mail today – seventeen letters in all. Am going to a children’s concert in Lewes tonight. Uncle, Major McDonald (Grandad) and nine NCOs left today for Canada [they returned to Canada as instructors] – oh boy, what luck.

This is the first post that corresponds with the date Doc Alexander penned his journal entry. The first post on this blog is the complete first year he spent in the army as medical officer for the Calgary Tanks.
