May 1, 1942

Our second St. George’s dinner since the Regiment was formed. It should have been on the 23rd April but we were on a scheme. It was held in the hall over the Dorothy Cafe, Seaford. We all had a good time.

I am interested in the history of the shops and business premises in Seaford. I was looking for a photo of the Dorothy Café, and found that you referred to it in your journal from 1941. The premises is now an Indian restaurant called Shah Jahan. It is owned by a young man of the same name, who went to school with my son here in Seaford.
