Jan. 5 & 6, 1942

Jan. 5 Arrived at Muirs at 10:30 a.m. – Had a glorious breakfast, then Rena and I went downtown to try to do some shopping. Mr. Muir arrived home for dinner and we all sat around and talked all evening. Tomorrow, Rena and I go to Edinburgh.

Jan. 6 Rena and I caught the 9:50 a.m. Train for Edinburgh, arriving there at 11 a.m. – Had silhouettes taken at Jennie’s store then went to British Northern Hotel for lunch, then to Lyceum Theatre to see Richard Tauber in “Old Chelsea” WEnt to Caledonia Hotel for afternoon tea, then caught the train back to Glasgow and arrived at Giffnock at 9:30 p.m. We sent a Jewish card to Helen from Glasgow – all sat around and talked until 1 a.m. Tonight at 9:30 p.m. I leave for London – dread the trip down as the trains are crowded and no berths available.
